Planning
Welcome to Planning
The Planning Department is charged both with long-term planning and current planning functions. Long term planning includes such activities as creation, implementation and maintenance of the General Plan and related policy implementation. Current planning functions deal with land use, development and growth. The Planning Department is also responsible for gathering and disseminating planning information to the public, other City departments, the Planning Commission and the City Council.
Code Enforcement
The Planning Department is responsible for the administration and implementation of the City’s Code Enforcement functions. The Planning Department's role in the Code Enforcement program covers both the enforcement of City planning and development codes (e.g. setbacks, building heights, fences, accessory structures) as well as the City’s public nuisance, streets and roads, and public health codes (e.g. vehicle parking, trash and debris and property maintenance). For information about reporting a code enforcement violation, or responding to a letter from the code enforcement officer, please see our FAQ's or call (530) 868-5447.
Biggs General Plan Update
The "Biggs 2030" general plan update process is in action right now, having started in September 2008 with an expected completion date of summer 2010. This community-wide planning effort is identifying community values and objectives, setting land use policies, and establishing direction for future growth and development. Generally, Biggs welcomes growth. How and where to grow is being discussed and decided. Check out our general plan webpage at: www.biggsgeneralplan.com
