The City of Biggs is a full-service, general law city with a population of 2,066 located in the fertile farmlands of the Sacramento Valley about an hour north of Sacramento.  Known as the "heart of rice country," Biggs is approximately 25 miles south of the City of Chico and 25 miles north of Yuba City, just off State Route 99, at an elevation of 93 feet. Biggs is approximately four miles north of the City of Gridley, and 13 miles west of the Butte County Governement offices in the City of Oroville. View map.
 
In addition to providing municipal police, fire and public works services, the city also operates its own electric utility. Biggs partners with the City of Gridley for police, animal control and electric utility maintenance services and with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) for fire services.

Drive Time TableThe City of Biggs is located in the heart of rice county in the Northern Sacramento Valley of California. Rice lands and orchards, mostly walnut, surround the city on all sides. The pastoral landscape is dotted with rice dryers and rice mills. One of America's largest rice mills (SunWest Milling, Inc) is located in Biggs.

Biggs is at the center California’s premiere waterfowl and bird hunting area, with many renowned public and privately maintained hunting areas available in the immediate area. A favorite visitor attraction is the Gray Lodge Wildlife Area.
 
Biggs is a growing community, where inexpensive housing, one of the lowest property tax rates in the state, a low crime rate, mild winters and warm summers, and neighbors that care about each other make this an excellent location to raise a family. A local government with a "customer service" attitude makes Biggs a welcome spot for businesses wishing to take advantage of its excellent climate and location.
